A lot of people are going to tell you that you are too young and don't need to wear makeup. OR they're gonna recommend drugstore products. Ignore them.
First of all, I would recommend that if you have good skin and you don't need foundation, then don't use foundation. Makeup is not good for your face. You don't need foundation if your skin is MOSTLY clear, spot-free and your pores are small and you don't have a lot of discoloration or lines (which you shouldn't, you're going into 8th grade). If there are any problem areas on your face, use concealer. If you don't need concealer, then the best is to go all natural. Foundation is the thing that will shorten the life of your face's skin most. It doesn't let your skin breathe easily and putting chemicals on your face every day that block pores and cover your face like a layer are going to lead to you getting spots, wrinkles and poor skin faster.
Foundation, obviously being the most important skin makeup, should be higher end. Do not get your foundation from a drugstore. Say byebye to covergirl, physician's formula, etc and start looking at Sephora's makeup. You don't need designer stuff like YSL or Dior but you do need a good foundation. Look for something that is light and breathable - you don't need something heavy yet. Even if you have acne you should still go for light and breathable because otherwise it will make your acne worse. I personally would recommend using a mineral foundation, and make sure that it has Sephora's 'natural' seal of approval, as that is really good for your face. A good foundation to start off with would be BareMinerals or BareEscentuals. This is the number one mineral foundation in America. Just read the reviews of it on Sephora and you'll see how much it's loved!
The same goes for concealer btw.
If your face naturally flushes easily or you have redness on your cheeks you don't need blush either. However, if you are very pale and unconfident about this, or normally wear blush, then you can stick to it. But you don't need a lot, or you end up looking like you have a fever or are permanently embarrassed.
For blush, I would once again recommend going higher end and skipping the drugstore products. However, since you won't be wearing a lot this isn't as important, and it's certainly not necessary to get a mineral one, unless you want to or have the money.
Don't use lipgloss or lipstick, lipgloss is makeup used for 5 year olds and does not project maturity, and lipstick is used by 20somethings and onwards. If you really want your lips to have a color, use lipstain. Benefit has the cutest ones and they're really pigmented so you only need to dab a little. They wear a long time and the product will last a long time so you will only have to buy it like twice a year with regular use. I would go for their Posietint. :) Tinted lipbalm is also great, it's like the best of both worlds: A moisturising balm that's actually good for your lips, and a color :)
Also, skip the eyeshadows. I say this because most people I have met seem to think that with eyeshadow, they need to paint their eye. NO. Eyeshadow is used to enhance the eye. White, for instance, is used to open the eye up and make it look less tired. Golden and champagne colors complement eyes by making the skin look rich and gold. So I would say if you're going to use eyeshadow start off with a very sheer shadow, don't use a lot, and use natural colors. I can't recommend a particular eyeliner for you (if you do use eyeliner) because everyone has their own preferences as to which format and brand they prefer. You can go cheap on eyeliner and mascara. But remember to change mascara regularly. If you use mascara every day change it, MAXIMUM, every 3 months (preferably 1-2). If you don't use it every day you can afford to make it last a little longer. But old mascara is really bad for your eyes and can make your lashes fall out. Not good. Maybelline has the best mascaras but, if you don't wear mascara then don't start. It makes your lashes a lot shorter and thinner :s
Expensive products are much better for your skin than drugstore products. The foundations in particular cake less, irritate less, cover better and breathe better. Most people believe that young girls such as yourself can afford to start out cheap but I don't believe that as they ruin their skin quickly. You should never go cheap on foundation. Also, expensive products aren't as expensive as you think. They last longer and you don't need to use as much on your face. Also, they cover better. Like the saying goes, "You get what you pay for."
Smaller products are not necessary yet to be high end because they only cover a small portion of your face and I'm not even sure if you use them.
