Well I myself am a girl, and even though I am 13 I am pretty good with a lot of things, I can help you too. For starters it all depends on the guy. If the guy is an athlete and he has gone through many girls, you know the guy who seems like the prom king kind of guy, then they are usually more shallow and if you have one thing they don't like about you then tough luck! They will USUALLY judge girls as "hot" which even though very nice some girls find it to be rude and insecure. Make sure he isn't like that. They would also like you to be well known and pretty, nice, funny, and sometimes vulnerable, yes they do act this way around girls. But they want you to let them be in charge always. But you shouldn't be completely in charge either you should both be very trusting of each other and not too attached. But an average of guys only look for beauty, so makeup, hair, breasts, butts, clothing, and oh BODY SHAPE if you are a bit thicker than other girls they will notice and usually X you out. If the guy you know has past experience see who it was and take notes of them and see what they look like and compare and contrast them to see the different types or how similar they are. Pretty but not "Hot"
Smart/Not idiotic

and so on then they are most likely looking at personality so to take this advice I have given you. I'd say get to know the guy before you actually go for him. Make sure he isn't looking for your bra size but your personality qualities and you should do the same, you can look for a guy who is nice looking but make sure he has the right heart first! Guys like a well dressed girl (no skanky clothes, but not uptight every-hair-in-place-fake-look either) who is clean and looks like she takes good care of herself. If a girl takes good care of herself and her body, she won't be overweight but certainly doesn't need more abs than the average male.
Guys don't like girls who "glob on makeup" they like the "natural look" (when really, their ideal of make upless/natural will involve foundation, concealer, blush, highlighter, a teeny bit of blended/smudged eyeliner, and a coat of mascara).
Depending on your style of man, a lot of men have told me that scene/emo girls scare them.
Men don't want a clingy girl with emotional baggage from past relationships. They want a girl who can stand on her own two feet and be capable of loving at the same time.

For me, what I fell for the most was my girlfriend's personality. She is the most welcoming, approachable and warmest person you'll ever meet, she's open minded and selfless meaning that she never turns away if a friend or acquaintance needs help on anything...she even has a hard time saying no to people! The most important thing is not to be someone you're not, you hear that alot but when you meet someone who is down to earth and not trying to be something they're not, you can tell. In most cases, that's the most attractive thing and I always feel lucky that I found someone like her. And to answer the rest of your question, it may not be the most general answer but the looks are almost a bonus, I'm lucky here once again! but just be neat and tidy, trim your nails etc. and dress classy/simple without having to put too much make up on! A guy should like you for the person you are, while it is nice to work on your appearance a little, there is no need at all to go to extensive depths! Be yourself and good luck!

hm... well it all depends! not all guys are the same, and another thing is some only want a good personality in you. but for the most part, i think guys like girls who wear what they call cool clothing. and it all depends on what they like. for example, what i normally wear is my converse, a cute shirt with a vest and shorts and maybe a scarf if its cold outside. as for makeup, they dont like zits so do something to hide it up. hair, i think guys like it longer/medium length and to look like you actually tried to wash/brush it. if so put a bow in your hair they think its cute. personality is a though one, but most guys like a sweet and kind girl. not like an angle, but a girl who is normally nice but can be mean when the time calls for it, you dont wanna seem to nice. also, you wanna seem cool. for example, be funny. but dont be to funny then he thinks all you want is jokes and blah blah blah. and lastly be yourself, guys like it when you are yourself, but if you change your self a little its fine.

depends on the guy. but in my opinion.. id say a cool personality.. doesnt really matter to me as long as they arent a no it all type of girl. where she thinks she knows more than you and she trys to show it.
then in looks.. also depends on the guy.. some like chubby some like skinny. i kinda go for the skinny athletic type. and also in looks there complection and legs and butt haha
not toooo much makeup!!
and hair.. i like everything but i like blone a lot more than the rest.. or that dyed purple/red color goes great with some girls
